Did you know that there is a great demand for goat meat in the United States that producers have been having difficulty keeping up? Because of the high demands that existing producers cannot supply, much of the goat meat sold in the US is imported from either Australia or New Zealand. The fact that almost 1.5 million pounds of goat meat is imported weekly just proves that raising meat goats is an industry that is slowly on the rise.
The Boer variety is a little expensive to rear that is why the meat from Boer goat is more expensive. The steep price more than compensates the excellent meat quality it produces.
The Anglo Nubian and Swiss dairy breeds were imported into the United States in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They were scattered across the country and were crossbred with the goats that were already here. All of these goats were used as dairy goats, but farmers and ranchers used culls to control weeds and brush in cattle pastures. They were called brush goats in some areas and Spanish goats in other areas. Today they are all called Spanish goat slaughtering. They are known for their hardiness.
In other words, I love love love to eat. When I am sad, I eat. When I am nervous or depressed, I eat. When I am happy, I eat even more. The thought of being so strict with myself, even for only three days, made me nuts. Not knowing much about it, I had a feeling this pH friendly regimen was going to leave me hungry and miserable. I predicted utter failure within the first hours of Day One, and burying my face in a bag of something crunchy, greasy, and oh so good.
Because of their small size, goats are a more preferred source of meat than other larger animals such as cows and pigs. In effect, these animals don’t take up too much space, so they are easier to keep or store. Also, while larger carcasses require you to spend longer hours to think and implement preservation methods, you almost don’t have to do this with Oba Farms. Your family can have enough supply of goat meat until the next one is butchered.
The Sate House is famous for its sated whole goat meat, or Kambing as it’s called. The sate is prepared so generous lumps of lamp are spaced out between globs of fat on the sate stick. The cooking process caramelises the fat, making it juicy and succulently sweet. Literally exploding like thick honey onto the tongue as the meat is pulled from the bamboo skewer.
King Henry VIII, for instance, ate a vast variety of meats and game such as: roasted meats, usually a pig or boar, beef, venison, lamb, goat, rabbit, poultry, also such delicacies as Swan, Peacock, and grilled Beaver Tails. Seafood was also popular for the nobles such as: fresh and salt water fish, ranging from herring, salmon, eel, whiting, cod, trout, and crab, oysters, mussels and cockles. Only the very rich could afford fresh meat all year-round, so the abundance of meat at every meal was a status symbol in society.
Before checking out the catalogues for the goats you want to raise, make sure that you have ample space for the animals to live in. Just like livestock, these hoofed creatures would need shelter, and more importantly: grazing areas where they can both eat and exercise at the same time. Keeping goats in very restrictive pens would only lead to a lot of trouble down the line. Make sure that the space you have is just enough for the number of goats you want to farm. One of the most basic things to remember on how to start a goat farm is this: having too many animals on a small patch of land can make the goats both destructive and unproductive.
