Monument at Parc Montsouris, Ile de Cite, Paris. The statue was sponsored by and funds raised by Joseph Lewis (the man also

responsible for the 1968 commemorative Paine US postage stamp). Sculptor was the renowned Gutzon Borglum. The statue was due to be dedicated in 1938 but was left in a store room in Paris during World War II at the end of which it was, remarkably, still found intact,

and was finally dedicated in 1948.  Joseph Lewis was present for the ceremony.
